The bond shows where someonewroteJamesHarp, and then crossed out the James andwrote Sampson.Tobegin,English subjects did not have more than one given name. Twoormoregiven names werenot used until the Revolution (Ron Holley)He diedin 1828 in Overton County,Tennessee and she applied forapension on thestrengthof his RevolutionaryWar service. Thepensionwas denied due tolack of verification. All Sampson'scontemporarieswere dead. She died inAugust 1849 in Overton County. The onlyprovenchild of Sampson wasBurton.
